| About I love trying out new things, especially when it comes to internet technology. I never really kept a journal, but it's something that I've always wanted to do. Now, everybody will get a chance to look inside my twisted, and somewhat-warped mind.
I've also subscribed to Audio Blog, so a few times a week, I'll leave actual voice blogs. Very cool!XML Newsfeed |

AuBlog I was going to unsubscribe to this service (ability for me to add voice blogs to my blog) to get it off of my books. However, at $3/month, I don't think I'm going into financial turmoil. I'll keep it, even if I'm not really using it. I may add an audblog today, just for shits and giggles. posted by Dino at 6:25 PM (permanent link) How to Program Your EEPROM on Your Sony QuadraStation 2.4 Handsets Since this information is totally NONEXISTENT on the internet, I figure I'd post it here so it does EXIST on the internet. I hope this info gets indexed. Sony Service Centers will probably not be too happy, since they charge $90 per phone to do this. So, if you are having problems registering your Sony QuadStation 2.4 handhelds to your Sony QuadStation 2.4 base, here's how to reprogram them: NOTE: I am not responsible if you mess it up! 1. Place a battery in the handset and plug power into base. No phone line connected at this time. 2. Place handset in TEST mode - press 2, 6, and Erase at the same time. You will hear ringing and the display will read JK 0425to or something similar. 3. Press 7. You will see TESTB and an 8 digit number. This number should match the number on the back of your base phone. IF NOT... Enter the correct number and press the # key. The phone will beep and you will see the new number. If it is already correct when you start, re-enter it anyway. You have now told the handset who "mother" is and written it to 004 of the EEPROM. 4. Press off key on handset - display will say JK 0425to 5. Press 5 - display will say EEPROM ADRS = Read Dt= Write Dt= 6. You will now write to EEPROM address 0D8 which holds the handset number. On the handset press 0, EZ Access (which is D), 8 7. Then press the # (which is like the enter key) and the display will read EEPROM ADRES=0D8 and the 8 digit number 8. You will enter the new number according to the following key XX YY ZZ PGM # where: XX is handset number (01, 02, 03, 04) YY is total number of handsets that will be programmed in the system (01, 02, 03, 04) ZZ is always 00 for the 2720 PGM is the PGM key on the phone and adds a checksum # is the # key and is like enter 9. Unplug battery to take phone out of test mode. 10. Do for all handsets. posted by Dino at 6:22 PM (permanent link) Another Update Things are going a little better at work. Not sure what I can and can't say, since you never know who's reading these. A guy at Microsoft got fired because he took a picture of Apple Macs getting delivered to one of their delivery centers. Hours aren't as long (most of the time), and life is a little more enjoyable (most of the time). I finished Command & Conquer: Generals. That was very fun. It's nice playing it on a fast computer. The game was awesome. I can't wait to load Ground Zero expansion (or something like that). Right now, I'm just playing some of the squirmishes against the computer. I ordered a Jeep windshield frame and fenders. My windshield frame is about to corrode off of my Jeep. It's so bad, that water actually leaks INTO the cockpit. The condition is so bad that I fried my headlamp switch... cost me $26 to replace, and about 40 hrs trying to find the reason why my headlights wouldn't work. DDC is going to paint it for me... damn, I love those guys. The fenders are on backorder, so as soon as those puppies come in, they'll be painted too. I wish I could get the whole Jeep repainted. The windshield frame installation is not going to be the easiest thing in the world. I was told that the torx screws holding the frame to the body are impossible to remove without stripping: there's a loose insert nut inside of the windshield frame that will just spin forever. I might have to drill the screws out. Oh well. Then, I need to worry about getting the windshield pulled from my Jeep's old frame and urethaned into the new frame. I also want to string some electrical wire through the frame to power my rear view mirror. At least now, with the frame off, it won't take me a month to do it. Wedding planning is moving right along. Danielle and I met with the DJ face-to-face on Monday. Unfortunately, our first choice of DJ is unavailable. Big bummer. We're going to have to settle for a female DJ with a male assistant. PhotoFrank (Frank Lombardo) has been hired as our photographer. I haven't signed anything just yet, but he has agreed verbally to be our photographer. He's trying to convince me to go 100% digital. I'm a little reluctant on that, and need to do more research. His prices are excellent, and he's a professional... plus he's a friend. He used to work for Patrick Studios in Warren. Wedding Shower locale selection is still up in the air. We have a few places selected, but haven't made a decision. My mother is the one that's worried... I'm not. I'll have the shower in my basement if I have to. Tomorrow is supposed to be 85 F. Wow. Looks like that will have to be the day that I spend outside working on the yard. There's so much to do. There's some pretty yellow flowers that have found a home on my front lawn. I think I'm going to abort them. I also have to clean up the flower beds and deweed those bastards. There's weeds in there that have thorns. I hate those SOB's. Those get aborted too. I wish I could extinct their entire phylum. Garage has been gutted and cleaned a few weeks ago, but there's still plenty of things that need to be pitched or sold on ebay. I'm a pack-rat and accumulate things. But, I'm just a commercial for Josh's pack-rat syndrome. That kid saves antifreeze from three generations ago. I wish I could sell him my house so he doesn't have to get rid of his five-year old antifreeze. Oh well. I think it's time to go. It's already 6:12pm and I'm still at work. I have a 7:30am meeting tomorrow, which I'll need to prepare for. Plus, I'll be up tonight, late, finishing up www.GolfLivonia.com. That site is a month late, but it looks incredible. Thanks to Stan Grayczyk for pulling that site together. Hopefully, it will be live by tonight. Looking forward to another fine weekend. posted by Dino at 6:15 PM (permanent link) Friday, April 23, 2004
The Sony Cordless Phone Debacle I had some major issues adding another phone to my Sony QuadStation 2.4 phone system at home. In the end, I won. Read about it by clicking here. posted by Dino at 11:32 AM (permanent link) Monday, April 19, 2004
Everybody Needs One I think everybody needs a website and a blog. :) posted by Dino at 12:52 PM (permanent link) The Coming of Spring Life has been pretty stagnant at my workplace. Everybody is just too busy to dedicate to "retraining" a recycled engineer. Hopefully things pick up a little... quick. I'm losing faith. At least I have Command and Conquer to go to. I just installed this 2003 game just for kicks. For some reason, there's nothing really out there, game-wise, that's tickling my fancy. Most new games are first-person shooters. I guess that's the trend. I guess there WAS a reason that I have been collecting and stock-piling games... you just never know. The game is pretty darn good. If you haven't played it, you should. I also heard that the US Army signed a contract with Ubisoft. Pretty cool. Who knows... maybe one day we'll be fighting wars virtually. Who would have ever thought Ubisoft would have a government contract? I think it's neat. Danielle and I did a little more house shopping this weekend. Mostly in Northern Oakland and Macomb counties. Most houses that we want cost as much as a small country. I wish I made the right decisions in the stock market two years ago. Drat! Yard work is starting to creep in too. Good thing I have a lawn service. Still, the landscape upkeep and the darn weeds can fill a weekend. I have no motivation to do anything, knowing that we'll probably be moved before snowfall. I guess this year will just be a "maintenance" year. Alrighty. Not much else. No links to cool sights or pictures. Just a not-so-daily diary of nothingness. :) posted by Dino at 12:51 PM (permanent link) Wednesday, April 14, 2004
Whatever Happens... Whatever happens at work, I don't even care anymore. I put in 110% on my last assignment. It didn't help me one bit. I'll be damned if I work more than 8.0001 hours per day from now on. It's not worth it. Positive Note On a positive note, Danielle and I started the infamous wedding registry at Bed Bath & Beyond. Damn, that's some fun stuff! Of course, Danielle is the most sensible one. I just want the highest-rent stuff. No more eating with dorm silverware on dorm plates. I want to eat my cereal with a $5 spoon! My mission: convince Danielle that we need to spend $1000 on cookware and knives! Shit! Some people spend that on lunch. :) posted by Dino at 3:45 AM (permanent link) Wednesday, April 07, 2004
Reputation or Guardian Angel? Either my reputation or a guardian angel saved me from getting axed on Monday. Fairness? Justice? I feel like Jesus nailed to a crucifx. I won't (and can't) get into details. At least I still have a job. And the good thing about me... you can put me ANYWHERE, and I will excel, as well as put my heart and soul into my work. posted by Dino at 11:11 AM (permanent link) Monday, April 05, 2004
Darker Days for Some... There are people that work in pathetic, bureaucratic work environments. It's no way to live. Brighter Days at Home... Literally No headlights. Can you believe that!? That's right, for the last two weeks, my headlights have been there just for show... turn on the switch and nothing but darkness. It's not a very good thing. I actually had to use Josh's car once, because I had to get to work when it was still dark out. It's no way to live. Part of the problem, I think, is that I've been using high-intensity IPF lights, instead of the traditional, sealed-beam Sylvania lights. It's a Jeep thing... you wouldn't understand. At first I thought it was the IPF lights... that they were drawing too much current. No fuses blown. No fusible links melted. No melted wires. I've scratched my head for weeks. Regardless, I downgraded back to the Sylvania lights. No dice. Still darkness. I then tore my Jeep apart, starting from the dash. I was looking for the melted wires. Nada. I spent a few hours on Sunday trying to find the rogue wiring. Nothing. I even tore open the light switch. Fusible link was intact. It got cold and dark, so I surrendered. There's light at the end of the tunnel... Today, I decided to take another stab at the root-cause analysis. I brought my trusty multimeter and started taking measurements. All the hot wires leading into the headlight switch were hot... they were 12V! WTF? So, I decided to short the fusible link and voila... "Let there be light!" The damn switch was bad! The fusible link was totally intact (i.e. it was not melted)! But were it mated to the copper plate, it wasn't making contact. Perhaps the tiny piece of solder melted. Perhaps the fusible link did its job. Not sure. So now I have a new switch on order. Damn $4 switch is costing me $23 from the dealership. So now I will again have headlights! At least something positive came from the day. posted by Dino at 11:27 PM (permanent link) |
